All the money in the world

Portmarnock strand is stunning on a Sunday morning. It is also almost completely litter free. Last Sunday however – it was not so. I found a bottle – picked it up – and gave it a rub. Lowe and belhold – a geni in full regalia sprang forth. This would be pretty suprising if I wasn’t dreaming the whole thing. The geni granted me a wish. It could be anything I wanted. I considered my options. Being financialy focused these days – I considered asking for all the money in the world. As it turns out, that is about $33.3 trillion if these guys are to be believed. A lot of money. It seemed a little overkill. Stick that nugget in BoI’s Classic Saver account and it would yield about 90 billion a month in interest. A silly amount. Besides – if I held on to all that money – no one else would have any to spend. How about all the money in Ireland?  $187.5 billion is the purchasing power of the Irish economny annually. $5.6 Billion in cash flow.  It was also way more than I needed. I am not that materialistic – and beyond my flat – some rather fine dinners and a couple of long distant trips a year – I’m pretty much golden.

In fact – after my expenses are met – I don’t really have any need for more than that.  Maybe a yacht in the south of France would be nice – but to be honest – that really isn’t my style.  €2 million bucks would yield me €7ok a year in interest.  Thats more like it.  It wouldn’t be a superstar lifestyle – but it wouldn’t be a bad cushion to get things going with.  Not too greedy – not to frugal – just right.

So that is what I asked for €2 million.
